ion and Naomi Brown AFAC acknowledges the wonderful support of Scania Roger Wilkins AO 14 | Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council Annual Report 2010 AFAC Bushfire CRC The Annual Conference was held in Queensland on the Gold Coast in September 2009, and was attended by 1200 delegates from Australia, New Zealand and international fire, land management and emergency service organisations. Themed “Meeting Expectations” the conference examined how the emergency services interpret and meet the expectations of government, community, industry and the sector itself. The conference encouraged delegates to reflect on how Agencies measure, understand and respond to the often contradictory demands and expectations from various sectors, and what they are really striving to achieve. The 2009 conference was staged against a background of the global financial crisis, serious drought and dust storms across the country and within months of the worst natural disaster in Australia’s history, the February 2009 Victorian bushfires.
